The KAP-IN- FOOD Ltd is a recently created SME, founded in November 2014. The two founder members are András Bittsánszky PhD and András J Tóth, both of whom are committed devotees and investigators of food safety & nutrition topics, devising innovative systems for food safety and compliance, including in the framework of international research projects.
KAP-IN- FOOD Ltd was founded as a spin-off company of InDeRe Institute for Food System Research and Innovations Nonprofit Ltd. Owners of the two companies are the same persons. The KAP-IN- FOOD Ltd was founded for making business based on the scientific results of InDeRe Nonprofit Ltd.
Safety of the food chain is fundamental to life quality and public health. Yet, trends show increase in food-borne outbreaks, causing great economic damage. The underlying reason is a massive discrepancy in the food industry: while business operations are high-intensity, safety control has remained handcraft. Because lab tests are expensive and complex, control is haphazard: there is no systematic, real-time microbial quality monitoring. Regulatory trends request decentralised self-monitoring, but no technology exists to serve this demand.
KAPSURE is a game-changing food safety solution based on a unique Lab-In-A-Box device. It works via an innovative, highly performant microbial detection method to replace artisanal lab tests for screening applications. Its certified, ISO-grade analytics is fully automated, needing no highly qualified staff or lab environment. With pioneering software capability it integrates into any cutting-edge global food tracking and supply chain tracing system.
The project will complete full automation of the device and its rendered services to pilot the Lab-In-A-Box product in operational environment. The system will be qualified demonstrating full capability including backend cloud-based data management and frontend authentication empowered by blockchain algorithm ensuring decentralised operation, interoperability, scalability, and trust.
